Explore Monticello from a variety of perspectives with daily tours! The Behind-the-Scenes Day Pass allows guests to see the 1st, 2nd and 3rd floors to explore deeper into the home’s history. The Monticello Day Pass provides access for a variety of tours like a first-floor tour, Gardens and Grounds, Slavery at Monticello and more. Additionally, with the Hemings Family Tour experience Monticello through the eyes of an enslaved family. Learn about the challenges they faced through slavery in America. On Saturday, September 21st, Monticello will host the Heritage Harvest Festival. The Tasting Tent carries a variety of heirloom tomatoes, sushi and kombucha from Wegmans, and fresh produce. Other Tasting Tent participants include Gearharts Chocolate, Brass Bullet Coffee, High Country Lavender and more. Learn about Winter Gardening, or listen to Dan Pashman, host of the number 1 food podcast, Sporkful! Enjoy a day full of book signings, chefs, speakers, and delicious food.
Do you have your own garden, or are you looking to start one? Join Pat Brodowski, the Monticello vegetable gardener on September 26 from 9:30am-11:00am. Learn a variety of gardening techniques and ideas that Jefferson’s kitchen uses while exploring the gardens. Lastly, tickets for the event are $18 and can be purchased online.
On September 28th from 9:30am-11:30am, guests are welcome to hike the paths of the Saunders-Monticello Trail! With the weather cooling off, this is a beautiful time to visit the area. On the hike, guest will learn about the natural history of the area and enjoy fall in Charlottesville. The event is free, but registration must be completed online!
