Christmas time is here! After you’ve done all of your holiday shopping and gift wrapping, it’s time to unwind and get in the spirit. Head to the IX Art Park for an exciting, 30 minute light show! In partnership with the UVA School of Engineering, C4K, and Three-Notch’d Brewery, this event is free. However, feel free to donate to C4K, which provides local children from low-income households with STEM mentoring and access to technology. Before the show, stop by Three-Notch’d for a craft beverage and some food. Located a few steps away, simply walk outside before the light show starts! Bring chairs, blankets, and whatever else you need to enjoy the beautiful light show.
Santa on Mountainview is a home that has been decorated for over 19 years. With 60,000 Christmas lights and 325 inflatables, everywhere you look you’ll discover something new. From 3 feet inflatables to 15 feet inflatables, you’ll see characters like Cookie Monster, Frozen characters, Winnie the Pooh, and more! With so many decorations being added over the year, they are almost running out of room. Additionally, Santa will be there every night until Christmas Eve! Rudolph will be there to greet you and give you a candy cane, so head to Mountainview between 5 pm and 10 pm!
Take a Trip Down the Road
For other places to view Christmas lights, take a trip down the road to Richmond. About an hour away, but worth the drive, Richmond is home to some incredible Christmas light displays. Drive down Richmond’s historic Monument Avenue to see the elegantly decorated homes. Or, take a trip to Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens for the GardenFest of Lights. This year’s theme is Magic in the Air and is inspired by things that fly. Walk through the magical gardens to see displays of fireflies, unicorns, spaceships, and more. Additionally, there are plenty of Tacky Light Tour homes in Richmond. Although Richmond is a bit far, you and your family will enjoy an abundance of tacky lights, beautifully decorated homes, and other light displays.
